About Us

family tree About us: Who are we? We are average Joe’s, and Jill’s, who are trying to understand this universe in which we live.

We are at the top of that chart to your left, Homo sapiens sapiens (wise homo). We are what is left of the many hominid families that once inhabited the earth.

Gone are Homo floresiensis, Homo neanderthalensis, Homo heidelbergensis, Homo antecessor, Homo ergaster, Homo erectus, Homo georgicus, and Homo habilis.

Gone are Australopithecus boisei, Australopithecus robustus, Australopithecus aethiopicus , Australopithecus sediba, Australopithecus garhi, Australopithecus africanus, Australopithecus afarensis, Australopithecus anamensis, and Australopithecus ramidus.

We are alone, having diverged from the last common ancestor of hominids and apes some 5 to 10 millions years ago.

This site is not about me, or the team that working on this site- it is about us.

It is about our curiosity of the universe around us.

It is about our desire for discovery.

It is about new horizons.

This site is about you and me-it is about us.

Did you know that every point in the universe is no more than one block from a Starbucks? JK!

Sometimes it seems that the universe was created for us, the Anthropic Principle- the Universe must have those properties which allow life to develop within it at some stage in its history. (Barrow and Tipler)

But what makes us so special? Perhaps, it is our ability to unveil the Fabric of the Cosmos to find an Elegant Universe waiting for its secrets to be discovered.

The elements that compose our bodies were born in stellar furnaces and released in orgasmic explosions to seed the universe for life. We are children of the universe; we are made of star stuff. Maybe we are special!
